A standard 12-day Everest Base Camp trek costs roughly US$1,350 per person once permits, the Lukla flight, teahouses, a guide split two ways and a 12% contingency are counted. Annapurna comes in near US$750 for the same length because there is no mountain flight. Change the inputs below to match your trip.

What the calculator includes#
Every figure in the tool is a line you will actually pay on the trail, not an agency package price. Specifically:
- Permits and entry fees — the national park or conservation area fee plus the rural municipality fee that replaced TIMS on most routes.
- Food and lodging — a day of teahouse meals and a bed, priced by how you eat. Dal bhat twice a day is a different trek from a menu with pizza and hot showers.
- Transport to the trailhead — the Lukla flight for Everest, a jeep or bus seat for the others.
- Guide and porter — daily rates including their food and lodging, divided by the number of people sharing them.
- A 12% contingency — weather delays, a helicopter evacuation deductible, tips, and the charging and Wi-Fi fees that add up above 4,000 m.
How the daily rates were set#
Teahouse prices rise with altitude because everything is carried or flown in. The rates in the tool are averages across a whole route rather than a single village, which is why a Namche-only price check will look low and a Gorak Shep one will look high.
| Route | Budget | Standard | Comfort |
|---|---|---|---|
| Everest (Khumbu) | 32 | 42 | 60 |
| Annapurna | 24 | 33 | 48 |
| Langtang | 22 | 30 | 42 |
| Manaslu | 28 | 36 | 52 |
Budget means dal bhat twice daily, a shared room and no bottled drinks. Standard adds a varied menu and a private room where one is available. Comfort assumes the heated lodges that now exist as far as Dingboche and Manang.
Where the permit figures come from#
National park or conservation area fee
Sagarmatha National Park is NPR 3,000 for foreign nationals; ACAP and Langtang are NPR 3,000 each. Paid at the Nepal Tourism Board in Kathmandu or at the entry checkpost.
Rural municipality fee
Khumbu Pasanglhamu collects NPR 2,000 at Lukla or Monjo. It cannot be bought in Kathmandu, so carry the cash.
Restricted-area permit, where it applies
Manaslu is US$100 per week in September–November and US$75 the rest of the year, and it requires a licensed guide and a minimum of two trekkers on the paperwork.
Frequently asked questions
How much cash should I carry on the trail?
Carry the whole trek in rupees. There is an ATM in Namche that is often empty and nothing above it, and card payment at a lodge carries a 4–6% surcharge. Budget your daily rate times the number of days, plus 20%.
Is a guide compulsory in Nepal?
On restricted routes such as Manaslu and Upper Mustang, yes — and the permit cannot be issued without one. On Everest and Annapurna the rule has been announced, reversed and re-announced; check the Nepal Tourism Board notice for the current season before you book.
Does the calculator include the return Lukla flight?
Yes. The US$420 Everest transport line is a return Kathmandu–Lukla ticket at November 2026 prices. In the October and April peaks that flight often departs from Ramechhap instead, which adds a four-hour drive but not much cost.
What if my trek is delayed by weather?
Add two days of your daily rate plus a night in Kathmandu for every Lukla flight in your itinerary. The 12% contingency covers one short delay, not a week of them.
